How to apply a Durogesic DTrans patch to the skin

1. Before applying the patch, gently clean the site where the patch will be placed. Use clear water only - do not use soaps, lotions or other substances that may irritate the skin. |

2. If there is body hair at the site, clip closely to the skin with scissors - do not shave as it may irritate the sin. Pat skin completely dry. |

3. To remove the patch from the protective pouch, locate the pre-cut notch located along the edge of the seal (this notch is indicated by an arrow on the pouch label). Fold the pouch at the notch, then carefully tear the pouch material. It is preferable not to use scissors to open the pouch, as they may damage the patch.

4. To apply the patch, remove the patch from the pouch with the s-slit backing facing up (the printed text will be on the reverse side). |

5. Holding the edges of the patch between thumb and index finger, bend the patch along the s-shaped cut so that the backing begins to separate from the patch. Taking care not to touch the adhesive, peel one side of the backing from the patch. |

6. Place the exposed portion of the adhesive surface onto the skin at the application site. |

7. Once the first half of the patch is placed, remove the second part of the backing away and smooth the entire patch onto the skin. |

8. Once the patch is applied to the skin, press it firmly in place with the palm of your hand and hold for a minimum of 30 seconds to make it adhere well. |

9. Make sure the entire patch adheres properly to the skin. The removed liner can be discarded in the household waste. After applying the patch, thoroughly rinse hands with water.

10. After 72 hours, remove the Durogesic Dtrans delivery system and apply a new patch to a different site on the skin. Do not apply the new patch to the same place as the old one. * |

11. After you remove the patch, fold it firmly in half so that the adhesive side sticks to itself. |

12. Place the folded patch back into the pouch and discard in your household waste in accordance with the guidelines in the package insert. Again, after handling the patch it is recommended that you rinse your hands with water.

This drawing shows you how you may want to change the patch from place to place on your skin.
As each patch is in place for three days by the time you have used your 6th patch you will be able to begin using the first area again.
